Housing and care for older adults: We're not prepared for what's coming
Join me for a free webinar on November 30th
Over the next ten years, the U.S. population over the age of 75 will increase by 45 percent, to nearly 25 million. As the population of older adults swells, so too does demand for housing that is both affordable and able to accommodate their changing needs. Alarmingly, the people most likely to need care and supportive services as they age are those with low and moderate incomes. The need is only growing, as is the urgency to act.
On November 30th at 4pm eastern time, I’ll be moderating a free webinar sponsored by the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University. Our panel discussion will focus on a new report from the Center on housing the nation’s older adults.
Speakers will include:
Elizabeth Chen, Massachusetts Secretary of Elder Affairs
Robert Kramer, Co-founder and Strategic Advisor, National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC)
Jennifer Molinsky, Project Director, Housing an Aging Society Program, Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies
Meghan Rose, General Counsel and Chief Government Affairs Officer, LeadingAge California

Retirement Reboot takes top honors in personal finance competition
The Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW) picked my book Retirement Reboot one of the top three personal finance books of the year in its annual Best in Business Book Awards.
Retirement Reboot was named as one of two finalists in SABEW’s Investing and Personal Finance category. The awards recognize and celebrate outstanding business journalism in books published between August 1, 2022, and July 31, 2023.
I feel honored to be selected alongside the excellent work of colleagues such as first-place winner Felix Salmon, author of The Phoenix Economy: Work, Life, and Money in the New Not Normal.
Retirement Reboot walks readers through a short course of decisions that you can make now to improve your financial security in retirement —even if it’s just a few years away.
You’ll learn just how critical it is to make a retirement plan – and the critical importance of timing your retirement. How to optimize Social Security and Medicare benefits. How to build savings – even late in the game. I also explore ways to tap home equity, how older workers should approach career management and financing long-term care needs.
