Today is Independent Bookstore Day - a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores across the country every year on the last Saturday in April.
Every independent bookstore is unique, and every party is different. But in addition to authors, live music, cupcakes, scavenger hunts, kids events, art tables, readings, barbecues and contests, there are exclusive books and literary items that you can only get on that day.
If you don’t yet have your copy of my new book - Retirement Reboot: Commonsense Financial Strategies for Getting Back on Track.- this is a great day to buy a copy from your favorite indie bookstore. If your local bookseller doesn’t have Retirement Reboot in stock - ask them why not! And, the store certainly can order you a copy.
When we celebrate indie bookstores, we celebrate having a physical place in our communities where you don’t just find bestsellers and books that are trending on social media. You also find a deep selection of classics and other older, quirkier, possibly more obscure books just waiting to be discovered.
Independent bookstores offer a lovingly curated selection, a beautiful space for browsing, and a group of dedicated, passionate booksellers who are always ready to share their love of reading with you.
